SECOND REGIONAL GAP CASTING CALL KICKS OFF IN SOUTH EAST ASIA FOR 2011
This November, the annual search for the next faces of GapKids and babyGap continues in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia
Gap kicks off a brand new regional search for new faces of GapKids and babyGap to grace the windows of GapKids and babyGap stores in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia in Spring 2012. Last December, F J Benjamin became the first Gap Inc. franchisee to adapt and introduce the Gap Casting Call, a popular annual nationwide contest by Gap Inc. in North America to discover new faces for GapKids and babyGap, to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
The inaugural Gap Casting Call in South-east Asia attracted a combined total of over 1,900 entries from the three countries. 300,000 votes were cast on the voting site on Facebook and six adorable kids emerged as the winners - Jerry Chew and Dyanna Erkek from Singapore, Mohammad Ezra and Jarrod Lee from Malaysia, and Janina Joesoef and Medina Yavuz from Indonesia. They were professionally photographed in Singapore and subsequently, had their pictures adorn the Spring 2011 window displays of GapKids and babyGap stores in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
This year, Gap Casting Call will take place in Singapore over two weekends; 12 & 13 November (Galleria Foyer, Suntec City) and 19 & 20 November (Galleria Foyer, Suntec City and Gap store VivoCity). Parents meeting a minimum qualifying spend of S$100 will be encouraged to enter their children to this contest (from newborns to 10 years of age).
Children from newborns to 5 years of age will be grouped in the babyGap category while those from 6 to 10 years old will be in the GapKids category. Their children will be photographed at the venue and their photographs will be uploaded at facebook.com/gapsingapore.
All entries will be narrowed down to the Top 100 spread across four categories – Boys, Girls, Baby Boys and Baby Girls. The public can then start to vote from 25 November till 25 December to put their favourite in each category through to the finalist stage. The child with the most number of votes in each category ends up being one of the final four finalists to join their counterparts from Malaysia and Indonesia in a professional photo shoot. An internal judging panel from F J Benjamin together with Gap representatives will then select the final 6 winners of this contest.
The results of this contest will be revealed in February 2012 where the winners will be featured on the Spring 2012 window displays of all babyGap and GapKids stores in all three countries. In addition, the winners from Singapore will also receive a $1,000 Gap gift card each.
The photo shoots are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the following location:
