A baby stroller is a necessity when parents have a baby and it can make your daily life easier or less tiring. However choosing the right baby stroller for your baby can be a challenging task as there are many types of baby strollers to choose from.
Below are some types of baby strollers:
Standard baby strollers – The most traditional strollers which are heavy and durable for everyday use. It also works great for both newborn infants and older babies. But they tend to be bigger and bulkier, which makes them less than ideal for frequent travel.
Lightweight strollers- Good for traveling due to its lightweight. However it does not offer a fully reclining seat and lack of back support, and is only suitable for children who are 1 year or older.
Jogging Stroller- A three-wheel strollers, with hand brakes, non-swivel or lockable front wheel, and large, air-filled tires, which is easy for the runner who is pushing. But not recommended for babies younger than 6 months as they do not recline completely.
Umbrella Strollers- It is named for its curved and umbrella-like handles. It is light and easyto carry around. This is recommended for babies 6 months or older who can already sit up without support.
All-Terrain Strollers- A three-wheeler with larger, air-filled tires which allow pushing on a variety of surfaces. Most all-terrains are not suited for babies under 6 months old.
Travel systems – A combination of stroller and an infant car seat. You can attach and detach the infant car seat from the main frame. If you have a car this will be a good choice.
Here are some tips to choosing a baby stroller:
1. Identify your needs - The stroller that is right for you mainly depends on your lifestyle. Think about your daily life and you will be able to decide which type is best for you.
2. Safety – The safety of your baby is the most important thus look out for the sturdiness of the stroller, 5 point harness system, and the brakes.
3. Wheels, brakes and handles
Look for wheel with a wide base or large wheels for easy maneuverability.
Strollers that have double wheelson the front that swivel are easier when steering.
The type of wheel that last are solid wheels which is more expensive. Another type is air filled tires which is easy to push on different surfaces and provide comfortable ride
Be sure the stroller has one-touch brakes that lock the wheels in place and is easy to operate with your foot. Usually to lock it just press down and to unlock it just push up.
Check if adjustable handles are available on the stroller, which makes them equally good for tall and short people.
Always try to take a walk with your stroller before buying it, try to move it through a crowd so as to check its handling, and try to walk with it quickly so as to check that your feet do not collide with the back wheels.
4. Easy opening and closing of stroller
Check how compact and easy the stroller is able to fold so that you can open or fold the stroller with the use of one hand while holding the baby with the other hand.
5. Storage
Find stroller with a storage area under the seat for you to keep your stuff such as children’s necessities or your shopping stuffs.
6. Seat
The seat should be cushioned and adjustable that can be reclines fully.
Be sure the stroller has removable fabric that can be easily cleaned.
7. Restraining straps
The buckles should be easy for you to latch and unlatch.
The belt should be strong and durable and fit snugly around your baby’s waist and have crotch straps that loop into the waist belt to prevent him or her from slipping out.
Afive-point harness (two straps over the shoulders, two for the thighs, and a crotch strap) is more desirable to secure a child firmly.
An expensive stroller may not be necessary the best one and an unknown brand may not be a real good deal thus look around carefully and choose a baby stroller one that will give the best comfort, highest safety for your baby and suits your needs.
Rock N Learn Phonic DVD allows your child to learn English Phonics in an fun and engaging way.
The entire DVD is around 70 minutes long, and suitable for children age 6 years and above. It covers phonic skills and knowledge such as short vowels, consonants, blends & digraphs, word families, with silent and read-along stories.
What I like about Rock N Learn Phonics Volume 1:
- Catchy songs, rhymes and animated characters encourage children to read and allows simple self-learning
- A ‘Menu’ page allows children to select the type of phonics skills they want to learn and focus
- An on-screen mouth feature helps children to learn the correct way of producing certain word sounds
- A delayed answer function provides time for children to think for the answers
- A reading for fluency section provides read-along stories, accompanied with songs for children to sing along.
Rock N Learn Phonics Vol 1 is a fun and interactive way for children to learn english phonics, as it incorporates music in the phonic activities. In addition, the attractive animation helps to sustain your child’s attention. Overall, it is an educational and interactive resource, to keep your child occupied and learn important phonics knowledge at the same time. It is not recommended for your child to watch the entire video at once, as this may kill their interest in learning.

Parents usually lose their patience when working with small children. Doing kids’ homework may cause a parent to flare up and give up. They leave the child not only confused with his homework but also confused of their parent’s reactions.
Your child’s assignment at home is one good way of boosting your quality time together. It feels good for a child to know that their parents are interested in their school work and are ready to give a hand for him to progress academically.
Don’t give your child that bad feeling of resentment and rejection just because he fails to understand what you are trying to say or what you are asking him to do. Here are a few steps in accomplishing your child’s homework smoothly:
Decide on what you need to do. Home work can be many and begin with the things which your child finds ease in answering.
Prepare what you need. Home work in language and reading might require dictionaries and other language books. If assignment is on arts, ask your child to prepare coloring materials and art stuffs before heading on with the activity.
Set up the study table or the study room more conducively for you to understand each other. Switch off television and radio which might get your child’s attention.
Determine your child’s style in learning. If your child can process visual information well, he can definitely understand easily when concepts are spoken out loud. Other children would opt for soft voice. If you do not know how your child can learn easily, consult his teachers.
Read out the assignment first. If you think the child can do and manage alone, you can leave him alone. But make sure to reiterate that he can always ask questions which he finds difficult to answer on his own.
Understand that the child is at lower level of understanding than you are. Concepts which seem easy for you may already be very difficult for him. Use language and instructions that are fit for your child’s age. This will avoid repetition and triggering of your anger.
Allow the child to answer first. If you think he is not directed to the correct answer, then it is time for you to help out. As much as possible, guidance is what your child needs. You don’t have to answer the questions for him.
Learning is fun especially if done the right way. The feeling of seeing your child learn through you is already an achievement for parents. Make up for those times you spent at work instead of bonding with your children by allotting an hour or so to help out your child in his home work.

Being a father is an overwhelming role transformation for most men. The primary reason attributed to this by experts is the fact that the woman’s attention is no longer focused to him but on the children instead.
The couple’s life is transformed in almost all aspects with the existence of the children including marital relationship, sexual frequency, financial priorities and family activities.
Being a father, for most men, is a huge struggle. Based on statistics, a man could spend 37 minutes with an infant in a day while an hour with an adolescent. Indeed, fathering is a role that needs more time in order for men to sink into it and become more effective in their performance. Here are some ideas that could help any man become the effective father without the pains and the fears:
Evaluate your priorities. See to it that you have divided time enough for work, for your wife and for your children. These are three main aspects of your life that needs you more than anything else. If you think your work demands more time, then talk to your family about it.
Show how much your children are welcomed in the family. Spend time together doing some household chores like gardening or cooking. For male children, you can always do some men stuff like cleaning the car or doing some light carpentry work at home.
Engage into play. Children view their fathers as tough and lean. When you laugh with them and do some tickling and chasing plays, they would feel that you, too, share the same emotions and that inside you lay a soft heart and gentle spirit.
Get involved with other activities. Sit with your children as they do their home work or when they watch TV. Children have great ideas which they express during ordinary conversations.
Tell stories during bedtime. Your children’s journey towards life will greatly be guided by your childhood experiences which you can relate before bedtime.
Avoid physical punishments. Earn children’s respect by being firm and consistent with house rules and consequences. Children can obey without being beaten or spanked.
Make little surprises. Your wife and your children are waiting for you to come home almost all the time. Surprise them with a cake or ice cream which you could eat together as you engage into small chats.
State clearly what you want. Never indulge in silence as children might view this as your way of driving them away. But once you talked, make sure you don’t use a high demanding voice.
Go down a little. Fathers are house authorities but it doesn’t mean children no longer have good thoughts. Sometimes great things come from them and realization is what the father gets in the end.
Being a father is not a punishment. It is one way of showing how a home couldn’t be complete without a man to guide, to stand as backbone, and to protect it. The family is something you can build with a heart that loves and cares as you take the challenges of being a father and enjoy its favorable impact on you and your family’s life.
